From the 2025-2026 season:
17% of students were first-time SHKB participants.
100% plan to participate in Knowledge Bowl again next year (or would if they weren’t graduating).
88% strengthened their teamwork skills by participating in SHKB.
100% of coaches agreed that participating in SHKB teaches students to communicate effectively and learn that they must work together in order to be successful.
When asked “What is your favorite part about KB?”, students said…
“Winning two meets; I never thought winning a meet would be possible.”
“The time spent with the team, getting to find a place to nerd out, and the chance to compete.”
“Placing 4th as an all-freshman team.”
“The satisfaction of getting a very obscure correct answer!”
“The people in KB and learning fun new things with them.”
When asked “What tips would you give to a first-time KB player?”, students said…
“Just enjoy yourself, don’t stress over scores or trying to be the best player, have fun and you’ll learn along the way.”
“Advocate for yourself and speak up, also be open minded to your teammates’ answers.”
“Don’t fear the buzzer strip, if you think you know it, press it like you know you know it.”
“Make sure your communication between team members is as good as possible.”
“Celebrate every little success and keep a positive attitude!”
